Learn Wildlife Photography

LEARN WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY FROM THE EXPERTS

Lean the art of wildlife photography from the experts in one of our fun an exciting Wildlife Photography Workshops. Our brand new and exciting Art of Wildlife Photography workshop connects you with nature, providing guests with the opportunity to learn and grow your photography skills in a relaxing environment that is also cost effective and budget friendly.

Enjoy the art of wildlife photography from full time professional wildlife photographer, Armand Grobler who spends approximately 300 days a year guiding photo safaris or working on book/ film publications around Africa. With over 10 years’ experience in the field, Armand understands the balance required to help guests improve their skills, or even start from the beginning, providing a wide range of different workshops to meet all requirements.

While working on various projects around southern Africa, Armand lives in a 6x4m canvas tent, unprotected from the wildlife that surrounds him and his stories alone will keep you captivated and yearning for more. Some of these stories are shared in his first publication, ‘Photo Safari Kruger,’ such as when he almost stepped into mating lions, while others are shared around camp fires or saved for his next big coffee table book. Whether you have a keen interest in wildlife photography, just want a break to experience the outdoors, or have a dream of becoming a professional – working on film and photographic projects, this is an opportunity for you!

The Art of Wildlife Photography workshops have two key elements: 3- hour theory session and a 4 hour practical safari session in Pridelands Conservancy – Greater Kruger Park.  The combination of theory and practical allows you to fully understand the principles of what you are aiming to achieve, whether that is understanding camera modes (MASP), playing around with various techniques, using flash systems, trigger photography or more, and gives you a platform to work from.

The safari then gives you the opportunity to apply your new skills in real-world situations. With a 3-hour afternoon safari in Pridelands Conservancy where the iconic ‘African Big Five’ roams, this is the perfect opportunity to put your skills to the test. The focus of the practical sessions will not necessarily be finding a particular species, but rather to discover the true art of photography, utilizing your skills in different environmental settings, manipulating challenges and capturing the often-missed opportunities.

Pridelands Conservancy where one of the safari expeditions takes place forms part of the Greater Kruger Park and is conveniently located in close proximity to Hoedspruit. Pridelands is roamed by many of Africa’s most iconic animals including the ‘big five,’ hippo, giraffe, cheetah, wild dog, impala, zebra and more, providing guests with the opportunity to see and photograph many of the favorited species, such as leopard, lion and elephant. Pridelands is also made famous through the televised ‘Wild Earth’ program, Painted Dog TV and EcoTraining institution for guide training.

The 3-hour theory session will be held in the state-of-the-art Korongo Meeting Room and Conference Centre. Korongo’s modern technology leads the way in providing clients with a comfortable, fun and educational experience, adding essential value to the overall involvement.  A selection of meals and beverages will be available on order for your convenience.

Both practical and theoretical elements can be extended. Private sessions are available as well as full-day Kruger National Park workshops.
