EXPLORE THE LAND OF GIANTS

Luxuriously Authentic

MASHATU LAND OF GIANTS PHOTO SAFARI

Join acclaimed wildlife photographer and author, Armand Grobler on our Mashatu Land of Giants Photo Safari! Our Mashatu Land of Giants Photo Safari is all about exploring one of Botswana’s most beautiful and diverse locations – the Northern Tuli Game Reserve.

Located on the convergence of the Limpopo and Shashe Rivers, Mashatu provides a unique variety of landscapes and scenery, inhabited by many of Africa’s iconic wildlife such as elephant, hippo, giraffe, leopard, lion, cheetah, aardwolf, eland and many more!

The reserve gets its label as ‘land of giants’ due to the high density of Mashatu or ‘Nyala berry’ trees as well as the great abundance of elephant that roam its vast terrain.  It is also the combination of roaming giants and beautiful terrain that make Mashatu such a photographic paradise, with rolling hills and endless plains (often decorated by the stunning devil thorn flower) that create endless opportunities for the photographer.

Besides the giants, Mashatu is also famous for its high predator density, boasting regular leopard, lion and cheetah sightings – arguably one of Africa’s best areas to see these elusive cats. Game drives may also produce something spectacular such as an aardwolf or ‘earth wolf,’ bat eared fox, serval or pangolin with all these animals calling Mashatu home.

Accommodation at Mashatu Tented Camp provides guests with a selected combination of privacy, luxury and authenticity. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with great attention to detail, and cuisine is of the highest quality, ensuring your stay with us is as pleasurable as it is educational. Despite photography being the major focus on our safari, we still want our guests to enjoy every aspect of their African safari.

The Mashatu photographic hide also provides guests with another element of photography, and our scheduled departures are specifically chosen during the best time of year to sit and wait for animals to come and drink. During our Mashatu Land of Giants Photo Safari, we spend one morning and one afternoon in the photo hide, providing guests with a different perspective on wildlife photography.

What makes Mashatu so unique and attraction for wildlife photographers?
