PRIVATE KALAHARI PHOTO SAFARI
Join us in Botswana on a Kalahari Photo Safari and experience one of Africa’s most spectacular and ancient locations. Few places on the African continent evoke a sense of awe and inspiration as Botswana’s Kalahari Desert. This is a realm where nature’s symphony plays out against a backdrop of shifting sands and sparse vegetation, in a landscape dominated by towering dunes and ancient salt pans, forming a magnificent fusion of natural wonder. Despite its savage climate of scorching summer days and freezing winter nights, the Kalahari is home to an extraordinary abundance of wildlife: mammals, invertebrates, birds and reptiles, all fundamental participants in the deserts eternal dance.
As the sun begins its ascent over the enchanting red dunes of Central Kalahari a golden light weaves its magic across the vast expanse, casting a spell of serene beauty upon the land. This is a place where the relentless march of time seems to pause, inviting explorers to immerse in the raw splendor and intricate tapestry of the life that unfolds here. Central Kalahari Game Reserve, located in the heart of Botswana’s arid center is much more than just a sanctuary for wildlife, it’s a testament to natures resilience and an ode to the ancient rhythms of the African wilderness. The desert breeds tenacity, as the weak evaporate with the rise of dawn, in a kingdom reigned by creatures of profound grandeur.
Nxai Pan National Park also sets the stage where enchantment meets exploration, with a script written by the quill of mystery and excitement. An endless horizon dotted out by acacia bushes and the odd tree is home to some of Africa’s largest giants, in the form of elephant and lion. This is a land – much like that of Savuti – where giants meet, a place of savage beauty where only the strongest survive. With a local water hole being the only supply of fresh water, it is a magnetic to wildlife and it is here where animals congregate in large numbers and guests can experience one of southern Africa’s last migrations. Wildlife such as impala, springbok, zebra, elephant and the occasional lion an leopard will come to the precious water hole, and we hope for that iconic lion – elephant image that best portrays this spectacular location.
Our Kalahari Photo Safari takes you on an adventure back in time to where explorers such as Thomas Baines and David Livingstone once travelled, and its impossible not to be consumed by the peaceful tranquility of the Desert.
The tour will be a total of 7 nights, starting in Maun where guests come together at Audi Camp (tented camp) and enjoy a relaxing afternoon before the adventure starts. The following 6 nights will be an adventure through Botswana’s Kalahari region, in an exclusive mobile safari tented camp set up just for our guests – which are limited to a maximum of 6 people. The tents are en-suite and every room as a bucket shower and pit toilet with privacy.
The tour proceeds from Maun to Nxai Pan National Park where we will be spending 3 nights on a private ‘BOGA’ campsite away from the public sites. The following 3 nights will then be in Central Kalahari Game Reserve and will follow the same principles with privacy and exclusivity.
This is a fully catered safari and guests are not required to assist with setting up camp, cooking or cleaning – all of which will be done for you by the lovely staff. All we require of guests is to relax, have fun and enjoy a spectacular photographic safari experience.
The focus of this safari is to capture the essence of Botswana’s Kalahari region, with a particular focus on lion, leopard, cheetah and elephant as well as landscape and scenery. Should you be interested in birding or other animals, please communicate this over to your photographic host and we will ensure all your requirements are met – as far as nature allows!
