TULI LAND OF GIANTS PHOTO SAFARI
Experience one of Africa’s last hidden gems on our Tuli Land of Giants Photo Safari. There are few places on the African continent as awe-inspiring and captivating as Botswana’s Tuli Block, and in particular the Koro Camps location. This iconic landscape consists of vast open skies, scattered rocky outcrops and ancient riverbeds, inhabited by some of Africa’s most iconic species of wildlife including the elephant, zebra, giraffe, eland, leopard, wild dog and lion. Exploring this magnificent landscape takes you back to a bygone era of ‘Old Africa,’ in a spiritual safari experience, impossible to explain to someone who hasn’t yet experienced its magic. There are few experiences more tranquil than our Tuli Land of Giants Photo Safari, with low density lodging ensuring a high value experience!
Situated on the banks of the great Limpopo River are two camps: Koro Island Camp and Harena River Camp, both of which are designed with intense attention to detail, ensuring that guests are treated to the utmost comfortable yet wildly authentic African safari experience. Both Camps have a spectacular view over the river, which is frequently visited by elephant, hippo, crocodile and various antelope species, porcupine and the smaller cat species. Walking into the camp is like stepping into a genetic memory of home, as a strange comfort consumes you making you feel at home despite being a stranger to the area.
The staff at both camps make you feel like family, with a genuine joy and passion for what they do. Delicious meals are served under a giant riverine tree or in the boma under the light of a million stars, a romantic ambiance that emphasises the feeling of complete isolation and tranquil nature of Botswana’s wilderness. Accommodation is in fixed tented camps, with a luxurious finish and comfortable touch ensuring guests a good nights rest while listening to the sounds of Africa’s night creatures. Rooms are powered and there are serval power points around the camps to charge camera and laptop batteries.
Koro Island and Harena River Camps are also listed on the National Geographic ‘Top 25 Must See Destinations!’
WHAT TO EXPECT?
This safari, unlike all of our other tours, puts a great deal of emphasis on ‘animals in their environment.’ Due to the spectacular scenery that engulfs the Tuli Block, it is impossible to capture the essence of this magical place with a close up portrait image, and we rather encourage guests to utilise wide angle lenses to capture the unfolding scene.
Predator sightings such as leopard and lion are semi-frequent and you can expect to see both on a 6 night safari, however the major focus of this tour is to immerse into nature and capture it as a whole, may it be elephant, zebra, giraffe, hippo, wild dogs or cheetah that enter the frame. Although cats may be regularly seen on safari, they are by no means a guarantee on a day-to-day basis.
Koro also allows for drone photography under supervision of a guide, and the potential of capturing a unique image from birds-eye-view is high. ‘Beetle-Cam’ or low angle photography is also allowed, taking photographers to an entirely different dimension of opportunities and both a Beetle-Cam and Camera equipped with trigger can be rented for such purpose.
Our Tuli Land of Giants Photo Safari takes photographers to new heights of creativity, incorporating unique styles of photography with breath-taking scenery and iconic wildlife, creating the perfect mix of adventure, tranquility and authenticity.
